Florida Lake and Pond Care was started in 2007 by Edward Hubbell. After earning his bachelor’s degree in aquatic biology, Edward gained real-world experience by working for several reputable aquatic companies. However, he believed that he could better serve the environment and his community by opening his own business. Edward has designed his own products and offers instructional information to those who wish to treat their own water systems. His philosophy is to provide superior service at lower prices and to offer responsible alternatives to keeping your lakes and ponds looking spectacular all while limiting the amount of chemicals that are leaked into Florida’s waterways.

Aquatic Weed Control

Lakes, ponds, and canals offer recreational opportunities for boating, swimming, and fishing as well as serving the needs of irrigation, aesthetics, and storm-water control, but when algae and aquatic-weed growth are not restricted, they can interfere with recreational use of these areas and interfere with irrigation, storm-water drainage, and can become unsightly. Warm weather, imported-weed species, and high-nutrient levels in most lakes, ponds, and waterways only add to the problem. All of these problems can devalue surrounding properties. Florida Lake and Pond Care specializes in keeping your lake, pond, or waterway in excellent condition all year round. By using top-quality materials, specialized equipment, and innovative techniques, we can beautify your water system without affecting fish, wildlife, or desirable weed species. Our annual water-management program can cure existing problems (usually within one to three months) and can prevent the growth of unhealthy and unsightly weeds and algae in the future.

Aquatic-weed and algae growth can be controlled by several different methods: biological agents, mechanical removal, chemical application, bottom aeration, water clarification, nutrient deactivation, or a combination of two or more of these methods. If you chose Florida Lake and Pond Care, our specially-trained and licensed aquatic biologists will perform monthly inspections and treatments on your property. We have been successfully serving homeowners’ associations, developers, municipalities, golf courses, mobile-home communities, and other residential and commercial-property owners.

Terrestrial and Ditch bank Weed Control

Often, the only practical way to eliminate or suppress weed growth on ditch or canal banks is through the application of herbicides. To control most weeds for a limited time (usually 3 to 4 months), a one-time application may be all that is required. However, to prevent future weed growth, a long-term program of periodic applications may be needed. Bare-ground weed control is recommended wherever total elimination of terrestrial vegetation is desired. This method is often used in areas where cutting or physical removal is impractical and expensive such as in storage yards, right-of-way easements, along fence lines, and railroad tracks. Whatever your individual needs, our staff of highly-qualified biologists, trained in the use of specialized equipment, materials, and application procedures, will design and implement an effective weed-management program. We guarantee an improvement in access, drainage, and overall appearance.
